Gimp is a free, open-source graphics and image editor that can be used to adjust pictures, create graphics or thumbnails and even create digital artwork. Gimp is a free alternative to photoshop and is just as powerful as they contain many of the same capabilities.
Having the ability to navigate image editing software is an important skill for website designers, graphic designers, photographers, and creative professionals. In this course, Gimp will be used to introduce image editing software and to practice basic graphic design and photo enhancement.
In our introductory class, students explore and learn the basic capabilities and user interface of GIMP. Students will create their own graphics, images or edited pictures from their acquired knowledge. Check out some of our sample projects below!
Students create a collage of pictures and graphics to show to their friends and family.
Students create a thumbnail for a favorite movie, video, or book.
Students create a custom graphic depicting themselves in their dream occupation or life.
Students design their own logo/title graphic with their name or other applicable interest.
