Love music? Well now you can learn to create your own! Discover the process of sampling, editing, and recording to make your own music from start to finish using Cakewalk by Bandlab.
Cakewalk by Bandlab, formerly known as Cakewalk Sonar, is a powerful Digital Audio Workspace (DAW). Although it was once very expensive, it is now free! making it one of the most powerful free DAWs available. DAWs, like Cakewalk, allow for users to record, edit and produce their own music and sounds using sampled audio and hundreds of built-in virtual instruments and effects. Students can record/edit real instruments of their own or use the virtual instruments built into Cakewalk using their keyboard. No external equipment is required!
In our introductory course, students will learn the basic User Interface (UI) of the Bandlab Online Editor, an easier-to-use online DAW modeled after Cakewalk. Students will learn how to compose or adapt musical pieces using real or virtual instruments and effects to create musical pieces within their interest. Check out some of our sample projects below!

In our intermediate musical production course, students will learn the UI and basic capabilities of the full Cakewalk DAW. Students will learn how to use real or virtual instruments and effects as well as install and utilize free plug-ins for additional production capabilities. Students may also be introduced to advanced techniques in producing and editing music like managing various audio outputs, improving sound quality and adding variety to musical pieces through elementary music theory.
